Petroleum Refinery Waste Water Treatment by the EOX Integrated System
Ground Effects successfully treated Refinery waste water to below criteria through the use of the EOX Integrated System (EOX-IS).
The Situation
During the refinery process, large amounts of oil is separated from wastewater effluent. This wastewater can have a variety of contaminants from the refining process including various forms of hydrocarbons, suspended solids and dissolved materials.
The wastewater must go through a number of treatment stages before is can be discharged or reused. Typical treatment systems incorporate a diffused gas flotation (DGF) system, as well as numerous technologies to treat the water to criteria. Due to the large amount of contaminants in the waste stream, the DGF was not able to meet criteria for down stream treatment equipment, often causing upset of the treatment system.
The Solution
The EOX Integrated System (EOX-IS) treats a wide variety of contaminants simultaneously within the waste stream, without the use of chemicals. The EOX technology will treat the waste water prior to the use of a DNF, significantly enhancing the contaminant removal. The use of silica carbide membrane technology, naturally repels hydrocarbons and provides enhanced filtration down to 1 micron. The EOX-IS meets and exceeds criteria for reuse, eliminating the need for expensive downstream water treatment.
The Results
The EOX Integrated System (EOX-IS) for Refinery waste water meets and exceed criteria for reuse. This is a viable solution for the continuous treatment of waste water without the need of chemicals. The EOX-IS includes GEE's patented electrokinetic process, integrated with diffused nitrogen flotation and silica carbide membrane technology combine to remove contaminates, increase efficiencies and eliminate upsets, all while reducing the costs of operations and maintenance.
